About Itronics

Sustainability

A business model built to put waste to use, by design.

Sustainability is not a separate program at Itronics, it is how the business works. The Company’s proprietary Deep Eutectic Solvent (DES) chemistry recovers critical minerals, nutrients, and metals from materials that would otherwise be discarded, converting them into commercial products with minimal waste and low energy use.

Alternative power and sustainable energy

Sustainability Across the Business

  • ZMC Critical Minerals Processing. Itronics recovers manganese dioxide, zinc, graphite, and potassium from alkaline battery scrap, returning import-dependent critical minerals to domestic use and keeping battery material out of landfills. The DES separation process is non-toxic and biodegradable.
  • GOLD’n GRO Fertilizers. The chelated formulations are fully utilized by crops and soil microbes, reducing chemical and metal residues, surface runoff, and the risk of groundwater contamination. As a clear reacted liquid, GOLD’n GRO adds no microplastics to the soil.
  • Rock Kleen Tailings Recovery. The process converts mine tailings into salable metals and minerals while neutralizing residual cyanide, nitrates, and acids, achieving beneficial use of the material with nothing left behind.

Proven Scientific Expertise

Itronics has success-proven expertise in hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, the formulation and precision manufacturing of chelated fertilizers, and plant nutrition, including how applied nutrients behave in the soil and how plants take them up. The Company has developed, field-tested, and registered the labels for 12 specialty chelated liquid fertilizers sold in bulk under the GOLD’n GRO brand across Nevada, California, and other western states, with additional state registrations added as sales opportunities are identified.

Recognized Worldwide

Itronics’ work has earned international recognition, including selection as a finalist for the Kirkpatrick Chemical Engineering Award, one of the most prestigious worldwide awards in chemical engineering technologies. The Company’s President has twice been presented worldwide environmental awards in London, England, at the Royal Courts of Justice and the House of Commons. A full list appears on the Awards page.

Sustainability in Mineral Development

The same principle guides the Company’s mineral exploration work: maximize the recovery of valuable minerals from host rock and minimize waste. Applied to the Fulstone Project, that approach is intended to minimize environmental impact while maximizing long-term economic benefit.
